A unique grape variety and "appellation"

A cross between Pinot Noir and Le Gouais Blanc, Le Romorantin, a white grape variety endemic to the Loire Valley, monopolizes just one "appellation" in the world: AOC Cour-Cheverny.

In other words, no other variety can be used to produce a Cour-Cheverny, and Le Romorantin cannot be used in any other "appellation". For fans of history, this rare variety was imported from Burgundy by François 1er, who planted almost 80,000 of these vines on the commune of the same name in 1519, for his mother, Louise of Savoy. Conducive to flourishing development for Le Romorantin, the clay-limestone soils of Sologne enable wines with the AOC Cour-Cheverny "appellation" to acquire unique flavours sought-after by connoisseurs. Pleasures your tastebuds will not be denied after their first taste of La Grand’Vigne!
