A day in the life of a "butler"

Spend a whole day with Amélie Goubault at Les Sources de Cheverny to discover her fascinating work dating back to the Middle Ages, brought up to date for your greater enjoyment.

After two years as Manageress of Reception at Les Sources de Caudalie, Amélie Goubault was offered the post of "bouteiller" at Les Sources de Cheverny, the second hotel in the group of Les Sources. "It is the translation of the term "butler" in English," explains the young woman, "though historically a "bouteiller" was the person responsible for wine at court".

Trained at the prestigious Vatel hotelry school, Amélie Goubault has a deep sense of service. She is also caring, full of smiles and well-organized. "I chose this profession to ensure guests' enjoyment, to serve and take care of them, guarantee their well-being and anticipate their needs. In top-notch hotels, attention is personalised, along with the services proposed. It's what sets us apart from other establishments."

"My day starts at around 9 a.m. I deal with instructions from the day before, the day's arrivals and departures, before dealing with conciergerie requests: booking tables at the restaurant, proposing an itinerary for visits, or handling a special request for an event. Then early in the afternoon, I place items intended for VIP guests in their rooms, and welcome new guests. I then take them to visit the restaurant and spa while presenting our various activities. At the end of the day, I prepare the next day's arrivals and the "daily report" indicating requirements of VIP guests and shared with all our departments.

In short, pampering you, seeing that you enjoy an unforgettable stay and take away an excellent memory that will make you want to return, is what makes our young "bouteille" happy, day after day.
